EasyJet flight downgrade compensation.

Are you entitled to it? How much can you claim? Is it even possible to get a downgrade when flying with budget airlines? Downgrades are not common with budget airlines. There is no First and Business class with budget airlines. However, there are situations when you can be downgraded even when flying with budget airlines. The biggest difference is that these situations are not regulated. Accordingly, there are no defined guidelines.

Read on to learn more about EU airline downgrade compensation on budget airlines.

1. EasyJet Compensation Types

In the EU, air passenger rights are strictly regulated.

You can get compensation even if you are travelling with a budget airline such as easyJet, Ryanair, Wizz Air, etc. The EU Regulation applies to all flights from and to Europe, as well as to flights within Europe. If the airline is not registered in the EU, it applies only to flights from Europe.

If you are downgraded when travelling with a traditional airline, you can get flight downgrade compensation. The amounts of involuntary downgrade compensation you can get from your airline are between 30 to 75% of the price of the ticket, depending from the distance of your flight. It doesn’t affect your baggage allowance, as it isn’t your fault that you have been downgraded.

However, downgrades are rare with budget airlines.

There are no travel classes and not too many services on budget airline flights. Downgrades on budget airline flights can only happen when the type of aircraft is changed. And, still, these are minor changes. And they aren’t regulated.

2. EasyJet Flight Downgrade Compensation

Downgrade can happen when the type of aircraft is changed.

Changing the type of aircraft can result in losing rows of premium seating. But since most budget airline planes are of the same or similar type, downgrades are rare.

What if you are downgraded after all? Can you get EasyJet flight downgrade compensation?

If you are getting a cheaper seat than you have paid for, you have to ask the airline to pay the difference. It’s just fair.

3. How to Claim Flight Downgrade Compensation?

Just contact the airline and ask for compensation.

Ask easyJet to pay the difference. If you are getting something worse than you paid for, it’s just fair for them to cover the difference. It’s their fault after all. You wouldn’t have changed that yourself. Since there are no strict guidelines, this type of compensation can be paid either in vouchers or as a bank transfer.

Just make sure to submit a claim.
